The Buddhist flag symbolises the unity of Buddhists. This is the Tibetan version with Maroon colours replacing the orange colour associated with Theravada Buddhism.
The colours of the flag represent the Aura which Buddhists believe emanated from the body of the Buddha when he attained enlightenment.
Blue – The spirit of Universal Compassion
Yellow – The Middle Way
Red – The blessing of Practice
White – The Purity of Dharma
Maroon – Wisdom of the Buddhas teachings
The flag measures around 90 cm x 70cm and is made of cotton.
